Heather’s Story

Greetings and Welcome to Abbey Road Academy! My name is Heather Turner. I grew up in Moore, Oklahoma with a loving family. My mother (Shirley Robinson) and father (Rick Robinson) both surrounded our home and daily activities with music. My mother was our church choir director with a lovely voice and a great ear for harmony. She had us singing at an early age. My father loved classic rock and folk music, I remember sitting on the couch listening to Prairie Home Companion on the radio with Garrison Keiler bringing in local folk musicians. I sang in school and church throughout my teenage years and began vocal lessons with Karen Smith Pearson while in High School. Karen had a great impact on my life and helped me to audition for vocal scholarships at multiple Universities. I graduated Moore High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music Education with Vocal Emphasis at the University of Tulsa. I began teaching vocal lessons and worship music workshops at the ages of 21. I directed our children’s choir, Christmas musicals, lead worship for youth services and taught the choir for Sunday worship while I played the keyboard for services. After graduating TU, I taught Public and Private school Music K-12th*Mounds 1-12th Grade General Music and High School Choir & Assistant to Band.*Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy – Music and Chorus Grades 1-8th*Bixby North Elementary 1-4th grade Music.During my time teaching, I also offered private vocal and piano lessons after school. In November of 2011, I founded Abbey Road Academy to establish a place where students of all ages and skill levels could be developed and given performance opportunities that otherwise may not have come their way.I am happily married to Jon Turner and we have 2 amazing boys Aidan and Mason Turner. Jon and I are both blessed to be able to sing and he plays drums at Lifechurch.tv South Tulsa. We have been part of Lifechurch.tv and the band there since this campus was established 9 years ago.
